Carol Jean Jones, 76, of Columbus, passed from this life at 9:35 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2016, at her home.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and she enjoyed reading, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Jerry K. Day Sr. officiating. Family and friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9:30 a.m. to time of service Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or the American Kidney Foundation.

Mrs. Jones was born in Franklin, Dec. 17, 1939. She was the daughter of Marshall and Lilly Mae Collins Merritt.
She married, Thornwell Jones Jr. Dec. 31, 1955. He preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1999.
Survivors include her children, Nanette (David) Willoughby, Teressa (Todd) Woods and Trina Jones, all of Columbus; brothers, Carl (Cecilia) Merritt of Florida and Leroy Merritt of Columbus; sister, Joan (Ransom) Strahl of Columbus; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Robert Thornwell Jones; brother, Michael Merritt; sister, Mary Torres; and a grandson, Kenai Smith.
