The American Red Cross needs donations from all blood types and has scheduled three blood drives in Columbus in August.
The local donation events are planned for:
- 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 19 and 26 at Columbus Blood Donation Center, 931 Repp Drive.
- Noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 24 at First Christian Church, 531 Fifth St.
Blood can be safely donated every 56 days, or every 112 days for double red cells. A blood donor card or driver’s license is required at check-in, Donors must be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in generally good health. Anyone who donates blood or platelets through Aug. 31 will receive a $5 Amazon gift card claim code.
