Roy Allen Bowling, 77, of Columbus, died at 3:48 p.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor.

Mr. Bowling was born April 29, 1939, in Manchester, Kentucky, to Chester N. and Mattie N. Allen Bowling. He married Flossie E. Fields Nov. 11, 1983. She preceded him in death May 24, 2007.

He was a 1958 graduate of Tampico High School and served in the Indiana Army National Guard from 1961-64. He retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1994 and was a member of the Diesel Workers Union. He enjoyed shooting guns, feeding birds and going to Goodwill.

Survivors include his children, Ricky Bowling of Edinburgh, Lisa (Gary) Flatt of Culleoka, Tennessee and Marty (Tina) Bowling of Columbus; grandchildren, Keyla (Aaron) Applegate, Garrett, Jake, Cole and Luke Flatt, and Cody, Conner and Christopher Bowling; several step-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Hurst of Greenwood and Doris (Jack) Ray of Indianapolis; brother, Jason (Marcie) Bowling of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bowling was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; grandsons, Corey Flatt and Ryan Bowling; sister, Reba Rice; and brothers, T.G., Jarve, Robert and Clyde Bowling.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Indiana Army National Guard Ceremonial Unit.
