3 file for school board seats

Three local residents have announced their candidacy for election to the Bartholomew Consolidated School Board.

Candidate filings for the Districts 3, 5 and 7 positions on the BCSC school board opened at the Bartholomew County Courthouse on July 27.

Two candidates have filed for District 3: Polly Verbanic, the incumbent, and James Persinger.

District 7 incumbent Jeff Caldwell has also filed a bid for re-election to his seat. However, no candidates have filed for the District 5 seat currently held by Pat Bryant.

Filing also is open to candidates interested in filling one of two spots up for re-election on the Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Board in Hope.

The Flat Rock seat, currently held by Brian Rose, and the Hawcreek seat, currently held by Steve Wilson, are on the ballot this year, but no candidates have filed to run for either position yet.

All candidates have until noon on Aug. 26 to file to run for a position on either of the Bartholomew County public school boards.
