Chargers roll to win in opener

Blake Huffman scored six touchdowns to lead the Central Middle School eighth-grade football team to a season-opening 54-0 rout of Tri-North.

Huffman scored on runs of 5, 60 and 43 yards. He also returned punts 36 and 62 yards for touchdowns and returned an interception 34 yards for a score. Parker Harrison scored on a 67-yard kickoff return. Grant Cooper ran 4 yards for a touchdown, and TJ Barkhimer scored on a 1-yard run.

Crase Bergman ran for one 2-point conversion and threw to JJ Montgomery for another. Grant Cooper also ran for a 2-point conversion.

Tri-North won the seventh-grade game 26-0. Dawson Adams recorded four sacks to lead the Charger defense.

Lightening wins title

White Lightening downed Blue Blazers 7-3 on Tuesday to capture the Summer Session No. 2 championship.

Tyler Houchin netted four goals for the Lightening, while Kathryn McCarty added two and Dave Dickenson had one. Greg Thomas scored two goals, and Matt Street had one for the Blazers.

The Blazers advanced to the final with a 4-3 win against the Red Raiders. Emily Rice scored two goals for the Blazers, and Street and Dane Bremer each added one.

Ricky Hobson netted two goals, and Scott Herron had one for the Raiders.

Bruiser retains belt

Vic The Bruiser beat Dynamite Dillen by a reversed decision to keep the Hoosier Pro Wrestling heavyweight title belt Aug. 6 on Fourth Street.

In other matches, Timmy Danger pinned Scarecrow Eddie Felson, Lightning Bolt beat Drax O’Brien, The Bambino Family beat Real Deal Derek Neal and Aden Blackheart with a double pin on Blackheart, Japenese Superstar Shigohiro Irie made JKO Tap Out, Cousin Cooter pinned Wicked Clown. Too Cool TJ and Shawn Kemp beat TVZ to win the HPW Tag belts.
