Marshall A. Meixner, 83, of Columbus, passed away at 5:36 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016, in the Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

He was born Jan. 6, 1933, in Westport, the son of Edward and Letha Lenora (Sellers) Meixner. He was born and raised in Westport and graduated from Sandcreek High School in 1951. Marshall has lived in Columbus since 1962 and retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1987 after 37 years of service. He had attended Rockcreek Baptist Church and was a member of the Diesel Workers Union. He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, old tractors, animals and his grandchildren.

He married Joyce Marie Duncan in Milton, Kentucky, Oct. 29, 1955, and she survives. Other survivors include his son, Allen (Rose) Meixner of Westport; his grandchildren, Jessica Meixner of LaPalma, California, and Matthew Meixner of Westport; and his cousin, Yona Marie Souders of Plainfield, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Merna Brodie.

The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery with military graveside rites. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
