Race registration sign-ups see uptick

Registration for all Mill Race Marathon running events continues to exceed the rate of signups for last year at this time.

The biggest increase from a percentage standpoint so far is in signups for the 5K race, set for Sept. 24. So far, 673 runners have signed up for that race compared to 534 at the same time last year, an increase of 26 percent. Registration for the other Saturday running events are also up.

Marathon: 244 compared to 237 last year, up 3 percent

Half-marathon: 1,295 compared to 1,221 last year, up 6 percent

Registration for the Kids Fun Run, to be held Sept. 23, is at 183 compared to 169 at this point last year, an 8 percent increase.

The number of total runners registered for the two days of competition is up 11 percent year over year, from 2,161 to 2,395.

Other statistics as of Wednesday:

•39 percent of runners signed up so far participated previously.

•19 percent had heard about the races from a friend.

•12 percent heard of it by word-of-mouth.

Registration through Aug. 31 is:

•$75 for the full marathon

•$60 for the half-marathon

•$25 for the 5K
