Westport
Naomi Cox, 98, of Westport, passed away at 4:32 a.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at Morning Breeze Health Care Center.
Born January 23, 1918, in Jackson County, Kentucky, the daughter of Abraham L. and Louisa A. (Hensley) Collins, she was raised in Indiana and had been a Westport area resident since 1943. She was co-owner of Westport Hardware from 1968 to 1977, was a member of Westport United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading and vegetable and flower gardening.
She married R. Dale Cox on December 5, 1936, in Sardinia. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1994.
Survivors include her son, Dennis (Cindy) Cox of Westport; her grandson, Matthew (Ellen) Cox of Greenwood; her granddaughters, Carrie (Branden) Hess and Chayla Cox, both of Westport; and her great-grandchildren, Brody Hess and Logan Cox.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and six brothers.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2016, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with the Rev. David A. Scaggs officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
