Mrs. Helen Louise Ross Shutters, 96, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016, at Covered Bridge Health Campus.
She was born April 13, 1920, in Logansport, Indiana, the daughter of Perry and Laura (Barringer) Ross.
She married Shedrick A. “Shade” Shutters Jr. on December 28, 1935, in Old Vernon, Indiana, and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Shutters retired as an LPN from Columbus Regional Hospital. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to her family.
Helen is survived by her children, Thomas Ross (Barbara) Shutters, Shirley (Robert) Noblitt, Shedrick A. “Shade” Shutters III, Mary (Harold) Smith and Janice (Robert) Harris; 18 grandchildren; several great- and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Ross; and two sisters, Glenna Hill and Betsy Engle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Marshall and Harold Ross, and four sisters, Alberta Terrell, Mary Randall, Lois Glass and Carol Catt.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2016, at Voss Chapel in Seymour, with the Rev. Philip Bloch officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Friends and family may gather at Voss Chapel from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday.
