MALE

Nathan Cesarski, Columbus East freshman golfer

Cesarski carded a career-best 78 at Champions Pointe to help lead the Olympians to an 11th-place finish in the Providence Regional.

His performance last week: “I just tried to keep my control. I knew my team had never made it to state, and we needed to average around 76 or so, and I tried to do what I could to get there.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

“I just arrive at the course with the team, and we practice putting and hit the (driving) range.”

Favorite drink: “Vanilla Coke”

Favorite food: “Steak”

Favorite musician: “J. Cole”

Favorite book: “The Divergent Series”

Favorite class: “Science”

Role model: “Gordie Howe”

Best advice: “Work your hardest, do your best, stay positive, enjoy life, be kind to everyone around you and enjoy it.”

Athletics goal: “I want to play Division I college hockey or golf.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Rio, because I want to see the big statue of God.”

FEMALE

Leslie Sims, Hauser senior softball player

Sims went 4 for 4 with four stolen bases and two runs scored in the Jets’ 4-3 loss to Borden in the North Daviess Semistate final.

Her performance last week: “I thought it went pretty well. There’s always something you can improve on.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I just warm up the same way before every game.”

Favorite drink: “Blue Powerade”

Favorite food: “Pickles”

Favorite musician: “Shania Twain”

Favorite book: “The Memory Keeper’s Daughter”

Favorite class: “Any kind of math class”

Role model: “My family (parents Craig and Shannon and sister Tessa).”

Best advice: “Just never give up. No matter how bad your situation is, somebody always has it harder, so keep going.”

Athletics goal: “Ours is definitely to win state. Then continue playing softball after high school.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Hawaii just because I’ve always wanted to go there.”
