Next phase of Rocky Ford Road project begins Wednesday

The next phase of the Rocky Ford Road project will begin Wednesday when a section of the road between Taylor and Talley roads is closed.

Milestone Contractors will begin work on the road at 9 a.m. Wednesday to construct underground storm sewers and water mains. Later this fall, the bridge over Sloan Branch will be replaced, with the entire section of roadway expected to reopen in early 2017.

Rocky Ford Road is a major east-west road through the northern section of the city. Columbus previously improved two other sections of the road from Central Avenue to Taylor Road.

The improvements to the section from Taylor Road to Talley Road will include adding a lane in each direction, a two-way left turn lane, bicycle lanes, sidewalks and new storm sewers and the new Sloan Branch bridge.
