Wilma Jean Growe, 97, of Thorntown, Indiana, formerly of Columbus, passed from this life at 9:04 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2016, at her home.
Mrs. Growe retired as head nurse on 3 West at Columbus Regional Hospital where she worked from 1940 to 1984.
She was a member of East Columbus United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Clifford High School and a 1940 graduate of Bloomington School of Nursing.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Charles Aigner officiating.
Family and friends may call from 12:30 p.m. to time of service Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Mrs. Growe was born in Columbus January 31, 1919, to Guy and Blanche Brown Cook.
She married Lawrence Growe on July 31, 1998.
Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth (Phillip) Leonard of Fort Myers, Florida, and Linda (Michael) Barnhill of Thorntown; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a nephew, Rex Cook of Columbus; and a niece, Pamela McNealy of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her father, Guy Cook; mother, Blanche Newton; and a brother, Hubert Cook.
