MALE

Jamon Hogan, Columbus East junior football player

Hogan carried 15 times for 179 yards and three touchdowns in the Olympians’ 62-7 season-opening win against Bloomington North.

His performance last week: “I think I did what I needed to do to help our team get the win.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I just try to take care of my body, try to do good in practice and try to do what my coaches teach me to do.”

Favorite drink: “Water and Gatorade”

Favorite food: “Spaghetti”

Favorite book: “Duke”

Favorite class: “English or U.S. History”

Role model: “My cousin Krishawn Hogan, who plays at Marian”

Best advice: “Keep on doing what you do, and never put your head down if you mess up.”

Athletics goal: “To just get better”

If you could travel anywhere: “I’d love to travel to California because there’s a lot of greats sights and stuff to see there.”

FEMALE

Alex Munnicha, Columbus North sophomore golfer

Munnicha fired a career-best 1-under-par 34 to tie for medalist honors with teammate Danbi Kim in the Bull Dogs’ 150-194 win against Greenwood at Hickory Stick.

Her performance last week: “I was hitting the ball good and straight, and my irons were going better that I expected. Except for that one little three-putt I had on the eighth hole, it was pretty good.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Usually, I practice with my dad at Otter (Creek). We go on the range and hit balls, and sometimes we go play nine holes.”

Favorite drink: “Lemonade”

Favorite food: “Tacos”

Favorite book: “The Fable Haven Series”

Favorite class: “History”

Role model: “My parents (Joanne and Khamphet Munnicha).”

Best advice: “Do your best and have fun.”

Athletics goal: “Do better than last year and improve my overall score.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably New York because I’ve always wanted to go there.”
