2006

Crosstown rivals Columbus East and North high schools renewed their gridiron grudge match. The game was played on the new artificial turf at North, and new turf at both schools was dedicated and donors recognized.

1991

Bartholomew County Hospital marched out a new slogan, “Hospitals and Smoking are a Bad Match,” and logo to promote its new policy of no smoking in or near hospital-owned or -leased buildings.

1966

Capt. David G. Young, formerly of Columbus, son of Mr. and Mrs. George F. Young of Audubon Road, was awarded the Air Force Distinguished Flying Cross after leading two night sorties to aid Vietnamese trapped beside a canal by Communist forces.
