RENO, Nev. — A 25-year-old Reno woman who was jailed last week for failing a court-ordered drug test has died after suffering a medical emergency in the infirmary at the Washoe County Jail.

The sheriff’s office says Keely Ann Darmody was rushed on Tuesday to a Reno hospital, where she later died.

Darmody was booked into the jail on Aug. 18 for contempt of court.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement Thursday she was placed in the infirmary two days later due to medical concerns.

Deputies say she was fine when they checked on her Tuesday at 9:27 a.m. But less than 15 minutes later, they discovered she wasn’t breathing. Emergency staff began life-saving measures and transferred her to Renown Medical Center before she died.

The county coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine her cause of death.
