The March of Dimes plans to give away at least 100 Pack & Play baby sleeping units Saturday during a free baby shower at FairOaks Mall, 2380 25th St.
Expectant mothers or parents with babies younger than a year old are eligible to receive a Pack & Play set, valued at $125, if they attend a 40-minute class during the baby fair, which runs from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Safe Sleep class times at the mall are:
- 11:10 to 11:50 a.m.
- 12:10 to 12:50 p.m.
- 1:10 to 1:50 p.m.
While 100 Pack & Plays will be available for distribution, vouchers will be distributed if the on-site supply runs out.
“We are going to save baby lives,” said Al Parker, executive director/market development of the March of Dimes in central Indiana.
Statistics have shown that most incidents of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome are caused by unsafe sleeping conditions, he said.
Eighteen vendors will participate in the Columbus baby fair, with information on car seats, breastfeeding classes, general nutrition and other topics.
