PORTLAND, Maine — Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson and his running mate, former Massachusetts Gov. William Weld, are campaigning in Maine.
Johnson aims to gain enough traction to appear in the presidential debates alongside Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton this fall.
The pair are looking for support from voters who’re unhappy with the major party candidates.
Weld told WMTW-TV that the two represent a “comfortable alternative” for people who’re concerned about balancing the budget but don’t think the GOP is socially inclusive.
The two made stops in Portland and Lewiston.
