PORT JEFFERSON, N.Y. — Authorities say a woman escaped injury when she accidentally drove her car into the water near a Long Island ferry dock.

Suffolk County police tell Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/2c8xECp ) that the woman drove onto a boat ramp at around 1:30 a.m. Monday in Port Jefferson.

They say it appears she hit the gas instead of the brake.

She was able to get out before the car became submerged.
