WILSON, Pa. — An eastern Pennsylvania man remains hospitalized two days after police say he yelled at police to shoot him and wouldn’t surrender peacefully after he allegedly set fire to a car.
Wilson police have charged 19-year-old Jared McLoughlin with reckless burning, resisting arrest and other crimes in the Saturday night incident in this borough about 65 miles north of Philadelphia.
Police say McLoughlin threatened to kill his estranged wife then set fire to the car owned by a man with her. Police say McLoughlin threw cigarettes and a lighter at police and screamed for them to shoot him. Police instead subdued him with a stun gun, but say he continued to struggle and spit on an officer.
McLoughlin will be arraigned after he’s released from Easton Hospital, where he was still being evaluated Monday.
