BENNINGTON, Vt. — A work crew was busy this weekend chopping up pieces of a Family Dollar truck in Bennington after the driver failed to clear a train overpass while traveling along state Route 7A.

The Bennington Banner reports ( ) the accident happened just before midnight Saturday when the driver collided with the 12-foot overpass.

The crash caused damage to the top of the tractor-trailer, which was hauling perishable food items, kitchen supplies and appliances for the variety store chain.

A crew of six T&T Towing employees worked to unpack the truck on Sunday afternoon. Tom Brenner, T&T’s owner, says the truck needed to be chopped before it could be towed from the roadway.

It’s unclear if the driver sustained any injuries in the accident.
