Donald O. Coryell, 81, of Columbus, formerly of Taylorsville, passed from this life at 5 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2016, at his home.
Mr. Coryell was born February 14, 1935, in Jennings County, Indiana, to Alvin Elbert and Eva Maude Etchison Coryell.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and continued to serve our country by enlisting and serving in the Navy Reserves until being honorably discharged July 6, 1962.
For over 30 years, he worked in management at Arvin Industries.
Survivors include his sisters, Rhea Quillen, Vera Hill, Hallie Huckaby and Nancy Murphy, all of Columbus; a brother, Basil Coryell of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Coryell was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, June Mitchell and O’Donna Fern Hartwell; and a brother, Leo Coryell.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Stan Thomas officiating.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Full military rites will be presented by the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Unit and the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
