Resident flees police on foot twice before arrest

Columbus police arrested a local man who fled on foot from them twice before being apprehended.

At about 6:20 p.m. Sunday, Columbus Police Sgt. Kyle Young saw Christopher S. Bryant, 30, 1327 Ninth St., inside an apartment in the 900 block of Lafayette Avenue, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

Bryant fled on foot when officers tried to arrest him and officers lost sight of him, Harris said.

As officers continued to check the area, they saw him in the 1300 block of Pearl Street, and Bryant again attempted to run but was then caught, Harris said.

Bryant is being held without bond in the Bartholomew County Jail on warrants from Bartholomew and Decatur counties and a preliminary charge of resisting law enforcement, jail officials said.
