WHITEVILLE, N.C. — Police in Whiteville are searching for an SUV that may have been stolen from the home of a woman found stabbed to death.

News outlets report that Columbus County Assistant Coroner William Hannah identified the victim as 65-year-old Carol Greer.

Whiteville police spokesman Hal Lowder says officers went to the home Tuesday afternoon after a neighbor reported finding Greer dead.

The Fayetteville Observer reports that Hannah says Greer’s body was found in a storage building behind her home.

Lowder says Greer’s missing vehicle is a white 2012 Subaru Outback.
