BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. — The organizer of a multi-media contest says she’s seeking to save a deteriorating bridge that links two towns in New Hampshire and Vermont.

Contest organizer Deb Wright tells The Eagle-Times (http://bit.ly/2cbFtnU ) her company, Green Mountain Traffic Control of Bellows Falls, is sponsoring the Save The Vilas Bridge Creative Contest.

Entries can include video, poetry and artwork. Residents can choose the winner by dropping a piece of paper into a container at each entry to save the local landmark.

Wright says the contest aims to keep people focused on restoring the bridge, which she says was a “symbol of friendship.” She says that as the bridge deteriorates, the relationship between the towns of Walpole, New Hampshire and Bellows Falls, Vermont deteriorates, too.

The bridge has been closed since 2009.
