Brian’s picks – September 1

I nearly wore out Peter Cetera’s 1986 “Solitude/Solitaire” cassette back in the day. But I was so clueless that I didn’t fully make the connection with rock group Chicago until I heard his distinctive vocals on that release. He plans about a 16-song set with plenty of stories behind the tunes when he performs at the free, annual Our Hospice of South Central Indiana concert Sept. 3 at Mill Race Park on Fifth Street in Columbus. Indianapolis-based cover band LemonWheel opens at 6:30 p.m. and Cetera headlines at 8 p.m.

For me, cartoons beckon like a hard-liquor escape from reality. What’s more, you can’t get a hangover from an excess of Bugs Bunny. So I love the idea of a free presentation of classic Looney Tunes cartoons from 1938 to 1948 in “Daffy Duck and the Dinosaur” from 10 to 11 a.m. Sept. 10 in the Red Room of the Bartholomew County Public Library, 536 Fifth St. in Columbus.
