BERKELEY, Calif. — A lake in Berkeley’s Tilden Regional Park has been closed due to the presence of toxic algae.

KNTV-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2bEMf8I ) that the East Bay park remains open, but swimming in the lake is forbidden until further notice. Other swimming lakes in the East Bay Regional Park District remain open.

The algae can cause rashes, skin irritation, allergic reaction and gastrointestinal problems in humans and can be fatal for dogs. Health officials say dogs should be kept away from the affected water.
