George Carter Rothrock, 65, of Columbus, died 10:05 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Carter was born in Alameda, California, June 24, 1951, the son of George and Martha Carter Rothrock. He married Susan E. Foxton Dec. 27, 1975, in Whittier, California.

He was a graduate of Purdue University and a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He was president of MacBeath Hardwood in Edinburgh, he was a member of Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen’s Association, served on the board of directors beginning in 1994, president in 1997 and was made an honorary life director in 2002. For several years he was active with Columbus Youth Baseball.

He is survived by his wife, Susan E. Rothrock of Columbus; sons, Michael (Lindsey) Rothrock of Indianapolis and Matthew Carter Rothrock of Columbus; sisters, Ann Preciado of San Diego, California, Robin Rothrock of Santa Rosa, Californi, and Dorothy (Jonathan) Smith of Castle Rock, Colorado; brother, Robert (Kelsey) Rothrock of San Jose, California; several nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Genevieve Nicole and Carter Nolan Rothrock; close family friend Anna Carmon of Columbus; and faithful dog, Winston.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at noon Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street with Father Eric Augenstein officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. to service time Friday. Private inurnment will be in Garland Brook Cemetery.
