CLOVIS, N.M. — A Clovis man accused of shooting and injuring a police officer has turned himself in.

The Clovis News Journal reports (http://bit.ly/2bFrgxO ) that 34-year-old Anthony Baca was booked into the Curry County Adult Detention Center after surrendering through his attorney Wednesday night.

Baca faces charges of assault with intent to commit a violent felony upon a peace officer, aggravated battery upon a peace officer and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer in connection to the Monday shooting.

Police say the Officer Chris Caron was shot when he tried to arrest Baca after discovering during a traffic stop that the man had an outstanding warrant.
