SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Springfield police are investigating a fatal shooting in the parking lot of a city strip club.

Officers on foot patrol in the area heard the gunfire at about 2 a.m. Friday and ran to the parking lot of the Mardi Gras club, where they found the 30-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

His name was not immediately released pending notification of family.

An attorney for the Mardi Gras says video surveillance shows that neither the shooter nor the victim was in the club before the shooting.

No arrests have been announced.

The shooting was the city’s seventh homicide of the year.
