FORT WORTH, Texas — Investigators say a drifter with arson convictions in Oklahoma and Louisiana must serve 40 years in prison for two Texas fires.
George Wayne Reibert (RY’-bert) was sentenced Friday in Fort Worth after pleading guilty to arson of a habitation. Investigators say Reibert last summer set two vacant houses on fire, while on parole for a Louisiana conviction.
Authorities say Reibert, who’s suspected in a dozen more Fort Worth fires, was a volunteer firefighter in the Tulsa, Oklahoma, area in the 1990s.
Records show Reibert in 1999 was cornered by some children in Tulsa and arrested over a dumpster fire. That same year he was convicted for a 1997 arson and received a five-year suspended sentence. That suspension was revoked after his 2012 arrest following more fires — leading to imprisonment.
