LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — Loudoun County police say a citizen has filed assault and disorderly conduct charges against a sheriff’s deputy.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Kraig Troxell said in a news release that the deputy, identified as Eric Miller, was served two criminal summonses Friday stemming from an incident that occurred outside of the courthouse in January. Police say the man Miller is accused of assaulting appeared before a judge on Aug. 24 to obtain the summonses.

Police say Miller is a 10-year veteran of the sheriff’s office and works in the Courts and Corrections Division.

Miller has been placed on administrative leave.
