JUNEAU, Alaska — Ketchikan High School’s football team walked off the field against Juneau’s Thunder Mountain high School in the second quarter after two players were hospitalized.

Ketchikan coaches told the Juneau Empire Friday that senior cornerback Trevor Brock and senior free safety Nico DeGuzman were injured on the same play and taken to a hospital. One player was diagnosed with back spasms and the other with a concussion. A hospital spokesman says they were released to their own physicians later Friday.

Play resumed after 20 minutes but tensions were too high and referees sidelined both teams.

After talking with the refs, Ketchikan packed its gear and left the field. Referees also left, with one citing safety concerns.

Thunder Mountain will travel to Ketchikan for a Sept. 23 game against the Kings.
