Local 4-H’ers shine in contest, earn tractor titles

Five Bartholomew County 4-H members earned honors in the state tractor contest, with two winning championships.

Jenna Boewe, Daniel Murphy, Wyatt Romine, Brendan Boewe and Weston Romine were among the 180 contestants Aug. 20 at Danville. Each of the contestants was a winner from one of 10 regional areas statewide. The contest consisted of knowledge of safety and maintenance skills, parts identification and driving skills through a marked course.

Jenna Boewe won the Junior Zero Turn championship and Daniel Murphy claimed the Junior Lawn Tractor title — an achievement he also earned in 2014.

Wyatt Romine finished as the reserve champion in Senior Zero Turn, Brendan Boewe earned a blue ribbon in Senior Lawn Tractor and Weston Romine won a blue ribbon in Junior Lawn Tractor.
