JACKSON, Miss. — Gov. Phil Bryant has appointed two retired Army officers to the Mississippi State Veterans Affairs Board.
Brig. Gen. Robert Crear is from Vicksburg and Sgt. 1st Class Max Fenn is from Summit. They succeed Hayes Dent of Yazoo City and James Richmond of McComb.
Crear has held leadership positions with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, including commanding its Vicksburg District. He has also been president of the Mississippi River Commission. He retired from the Army in 2008 and runs a consulting firm in Vicksburg.
Fenn served in the Marine Corps 1981-85 and in the Marine Corps Reserve 1987-93, then joined the Mississippi Army National Guard. He was injured on duty in Haiti in 1995 retired in 1998. He has worked for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security since 2006.
