NEW YORK — Prosecutors say a New York City man fatally stabbed a 60-year-old woman after she refused his demands for money.

Yonatan Galvez Marin was arraigned Sunday on murder and attempted robbery charges. Police arrested him Saturday.

A judge ordered the 22-year-old Queens man held without bail. A representative for the Legal Aid Society which is representing him didn’t immediately return a message seeking comment on the charges.

Prosecutors say Galvez Marin stabbed Nazma Khanam Wednesday night as she walked with her husband in the borough’s Jamaica Hills neighborhood.

Police have said Khanam was walking ahead of her husband, who was catching his breath, when her attacker confronted her.

The Bangladeshi immigrant is the aunt of a police transit officer. She’s to be buried in her native country.
