NEWARK, N.J. — A series of weekend shootings in New Jersey’s largest city has left two teenagers dead and three other people wounded.

But authorities say none of the shootings that occurred in Newark over the holiday weekend appear to be linked.

Essex County prosecutors say the latest shooting occurred Sunday night, when 18-year-old Daquill Grant was found wounded and unresponsive in the 100 block of South 9th Street. The Union resident was taken to a hospital but died there a short time later.

The shooting took place a block away from where a 15-year-old girl was killed Saturday and near two other shootings on Saturday that left two men and a woman wounded.

The motives for all four shootings remain under investigation.
