AVONDALE, Ariz. — A reported bank robbery in Avondale turned into a police pursuit that ended in a fatal shooting in Tempe that was shown on live television.

Phoenix police say they were assisting Avondale police with an investigation related to the pursuit Tuesday.

Avondale police say two suspects jumped out of a car and were captured and another suspect drove off.

Aerial footage from TV helicopters showed a black SUV traveling through residential streets across the Phoenix metro area before being hit by several unmarked cars at the Baseline Road on-ramp to Interstate 10.

Undercover police officers fired shots at the suspect vehicle as it came to a stop before the live TV feed was cut.

Authorities didn’t immediately release the name of the suspect killed or the two who were arrested.
