SANTA ANA, Calif. — Police in Southern California are looking for a 21-year-old man they believe shot and killed a teenage boy.

The Orange County Register reports (http://bit.ly/2bQKW6P ) that Santa Ana police Cmdr. Jeffrey Smith says 16-year-old Alex Ramirez was at a home when he was shot once in the upper body Sunday night.

Smith says Ramirez died at the hospital shortly after midnight.

Santa Ana Cpl. Anthony Bertagna says police were told it was a drive-by shooting, but that didn’t match the evidence. Bertagna says police searched the home and determined Ramirez was shot in one of the bedrooms.

Police say they believe the suspect was driven to another home in Santa Ana after the shooting.
