Inexpensive, free books available at Bloomington library sale

BLOOMINGTON — Friends of Monroe County Public Library’s annual bookstore clearance sale is coming up next week, featuring popular and scholarly books, young adult and children’s books, movies and music available at heavily discounted prices or even free.

The bookstore is located inside the public library’s mainĀ Bloomington location, 303 E. Kirkwood Ave.

The four-day sale to the general public begins Friday. Here’s the day-by-day schedule.

  • Friday, Sept. 9: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., books for 50 cents to $1.
  • Saturday, Sept. 10: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., books for 25 to 50 cents.
  • Sunday, Sept. 11: Noon to 6 p.m., fill a bag of books for $2.
  • Monday, Sept. 12: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., all books free.

Sale items include books or additional items that were for sale at the bookstore, some of which may have been in the library collection previously or donated by members of the community, said Mary Jean Regoli, office manager for Friends of Monroe County Library.

Judy Cecil of Columbus, who has attended these sales in the past, said she will be making the trip to Bloomington again — especially for the final days of the sale.

Cecil, a former elementary school secretary in Columbus, said she picks up free books and brings them back to Bartholomew County to donate them to the Love Chapel.
