ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The executive director of the Maryland Republican Party has been sworn in to the House of Delegates.

Joe Cluster was sworn in Tuesday by House Speaker Michael Busch.

Cluster is filling the vacancy created by the departure of his father, John Cluster, who was appointed by Gov. Larry Hogan to the state Parole Commission.

Joe Cluster was nominated by the Baltimore County Republican State Central Committee to take his father’s place, and the governor appointed him to the office.

He will represent District 8 in Baltimore County. He will continue to serve as executive director of the Maryland GOP until Jan. 3.

Maryland’s legislative session begins Jan. 11.
