IMLAY CITY, Mich. — Police say a man broke into city hall in a small Michigan community, sat at a desk and fatally shot himself.
Scott Pike, the police chief in Imlay City, says the body was discovered by the city manager around 7 a.m. Tuesday before the building was open to the public. Pike tells the Flint Journal (http://bit.ly/2bRq2zg ) that the man’s estranged wife works at city hall.
A note was found, although the police chief declined to disclose the contents.
City hall will be closed for the rest of the week. Imlay City, population 3,600, is 55 miles north of Detroit.
