WEST MILFORD, N.J. — State police say a hit-and-run boating accident left four people injured, including two men who suffered serious head injuries.

The accident on Greenwood Lake in West Milford occurred around 8:30 p.m. Monday.

Sgt. Jeff Flynn says an unknown vessel struck an 18-foot Bayliner boat. The boat’s driver, Edwin Lane, and a passenger, Robert Roon, both suffered head injuries and were flown to a hospital.

Two women, Mary Lane and Eileen Roon, were being treated at a hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Authorities were still searching Tuesday for the other vessel.

The State Police’s Marine Unit is investigating the accident.
