HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — Southern California officials say a man and woman have been arrested after trying to make a traffic stop while impersonating police officers.
California Highway Patrol officer and spokesman Tom Joy tells The Orange County Register (http://bit.ly/2bTjW1B ) that the suspects tried to pull over an off-duty police sergeant early Tuesday, but the officer did not stop and called 911.
Joy says the pair was in a black, unmarked, police-style Crown Victoria and turned on blue and red strobe lights.
According to Joy, the officer recognized the lights were too dim, kept tabs on the car and let the dispatchers know what was happening until officers were able to pull it over.
Joy says it isn’t clear why the suspects were trying to impersonate police officers.
