Millicent Ann “Milly” Harden, 62, of Hope, died at 6:59 p.m. September 4, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenwood.
Mrs. Harden was born in Indianapolis, March 24, 1954, the daughter of Mildred “Mickey” Toogood. She married Anthony “Tony” Harden July 5, 1975, at East Columbus United Methodist Church in Columbus. She was a 1972 graduate of Columbus High School. She graduated from Indiana University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. She was an elementary school teacher in Bartholomew County for 37 years, teaching at Petersville, Taylorsville, Mt. Healthy, Parkside and Richards elementary schools. In 2013, she was named the Edna Folger Outstanding Teacher.
She was a member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
She is survived by her husband, Tony Harden of Hope; son, Zane (Amy) Harden of Hope; daughter, Paige (David) Langenderfer of Columbus; grandchildren, Emmett, Nolan and Samuel Harden and Quincy Langenderfer.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at Sandy Hook United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Russell officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at Jewell‐Rittman Family Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
