KAUKAUNA, Wis. — A 12-year-old boy has been struck and killed by a school bus as he walked home from the first day of class in Kaukauna (kuh-KAW’-nah).

Police say the child lived near River View Middle School and was crossing a street when the bus came around the corner and hit him Tuesday. The Outagamie County Coroner’s Office identified the boy as Justin A. Johnson.

Miranda Casey’s 7-year-old son was among the students on the bus that struck the boy. Casey says another bus took the children home. She says some of the children were crying.

Police Lt. Jamie Graff tells WLUK-TV (http://bit.ly/2c27Chy ) the State Patrol will help investigate the accident. Kaukauna Area School District Superintendent Mark Duerwaecther says counselors will be available at all schools as long as needed.
