MERRIMAC, Mass. — State police say two men were killed and four others were injured when their van full of construction equipment rolled over on Interstate 495 in Merrimac.
The Ford van crashed on the northbound side of the highway just before 7 a.m. Thursday.
Police say the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled over into the median. The crash remains under investigation but troopers are looking into whether the van had a tire blowout.
One occupant was ejected and died at the scene. Another died at the hospital. The crash also spread ladders, tools and nails across the road.
No names or ages were released but police say all six victims were men.
State police say it does not appear seat belts were used.
This story has been corrected to show that the crash occurred at about 7 a.m., and not 7:45 a.m.
