ROANOKE, Va. — The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control has suspended a restaurant’s liquor license after a shooting at the business left one dead and 10 injured.

ABC spokeswoman Kathleen Shaw tells local media that the department issued an Order of Summary Suspension to Monsters Bar and Grill’s on Wednesday “to protect the safety and welfare of the public.”

The investigation of the restaurant and bar began after 26-year-old Jermaine Lynn Black was killed and 10 others were injured at the business early Sunday morning.

Roanoke police have charged 24-year-old Jermaine Leonard Brown with second-degree murder and malicious wounding in connection with the shooting. Police spokesman Scott Leamon says the department is seeking more suspects, but didn’t specify how many.

It’s unclear whether Brown has an attorney.
