WEYBRIDGE, Vt. — Police say one of the birds stolen from a Weybridge farm this past weekend was found stuffed inside the mailbox of a nearby home.

Cpl. Justin Busby tells WCAX-TV (http://bit.ly/2bZSLW5 ) a young boy discovered the stolen rooster Wednesday morning when he went out to the mailbox in front of his family’s home in Addison County.

The boy initially believed the bird was dead since the mailbox had been closed shut. But when his father went to check on it a short time later, the rooster was alive and strutting about.

Busby says the fowl was one of two roosters recently taken from 82-year-old Armond Brisson’s property. Brisson is still missing the other rooster, a peacock and two large feed containers that were also stolen.

Police are searching for those responsible.
