LOUISVILLE, Ky. — University of Louisville officials have announced a new welcome center that will be built on the eastern side of campus near Interstate 65.

The $2 million privately-funded facility is expected to open in fall 2017.

The center will be located at the corner of Eastern Parkway and Hahn Street. It will serve as a resource for the university, the developing Belknap Research and Innovation Park currently and the Cardinal Park athletics complex.

The new center will be named for Herman and Heddy Kurz, two longtime supporters of the university. Heddy Kurz is a member of the UofL Board of Overseers. The university previously honored the couple by naming a residence hall in their honor in 2004.
