LAS VEGAS — Charges against a man accused of fatally shooting Sen. Harry Reid’s nephew have been dropped.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (http://bit.ly/2bXJquA ) that Henderson police on Wednesday confirmed they did not have enough evidence to pursue a murder charge against 28-year-old Michael Lanunziata.

Lanunziata had been accused of shooting 22-year-old Lamar Reid Jr. on Aug. 27.

The senator’s office did not respond to questions about the incident, but an obituary written by the family identified the Senate minority leader as the younger Reid’s great-uncle.
